Skincare Tips For Oily/Acne Prone Skin (Part 2 – Botanical oils)

Discover some of my favorite natural ingredients (organic oils and therapeutic essential oils) that are adapted for oily and acne prone skin. Don’t hesitate to include them in your skincare routine.

Black cumin oil has strong antiseptic and anti- inflammatory properties.

Seabuckthorn oil has amazing antiseptic, anti- inflammatory, and healing properties. I like using the combination black cumin oil + seabuckthorn oil together on my oily/acne prone skin to reduce inflammation and keep pimples at bay.

Argan oil helps with consistent use, to reduce the look of (acne) scars, dark spots, age spots as well as preventing the signs of aging.

Tea tree (melaleuca alternifolia) essential oil is the most effective on my (oily and acne prone) skin. It is powerful, very active and acts fast. The EO is extracted from the leaves. Tea tree is used in skincare for its strong antibacterial and circulatory properties. This EO is very popular in acne products. It has an unpleasant odor but it’s very effective.

Lavender (lavandula angustifolia or L. Officinalis) essential oil is a very effective and powerful healer. It also has anti-inflammatory properties which is great for acne-prone skins. The EO is extracted from flowering tops. Lavender EO is used in skincare for its antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, calming, astringent and healing properties. (Do a patch test first as skin allergies to lavender oil do happen occasionally).

Ravensara essential oil is less known but also effective for acne and pimples. Ravensara is milder and less irritating. It is a better option for sensitive skin types than tea tree oil.

Helichrysum essential oil has a strong ability to lower inflammation making it very useful in acne treatment products.

Petitgrain essential oil is surprisingly versatile and may help with acne, pimples and blemishes, balancing over-active sebaceous glands to name only a few.

Geranium (pelargonium xasperum) essential oil helps to tighten and tone oily and acne-prone skin. The EO is extracted from the leaves. Geranium EO is used in skincare for its anti-inflammatory, toning, astringent and healing properties.
